Pele, whose full name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, was a Brazilian professional football player and one of the greatest players in the history of the sport. He was born on October 23, 1940, in Tres Coracoes, Brazil.

Pele began playing football at a young age and joined Santos FC at the age of 15. He quickly became a star for the team, scoring numerous goals and helping them win multiple Campeonato Paulista championships. In 1958, he made his debut for the Brazilian national team and helped lead them to their first World Cup victory that same year, scoring two goals in the final against Sweden.

Over the course of his career, Pele won three World Cups with Brazil (1958, 1962, and 1970), scored over 1,000 career goals (including friendlies and exhibition matches), and won numerous individual awards, including the FIFA Player of the Century award in 2000.

Pele was known for his incredible skill, speed, and agility on the pitch, as well as his sportsmanship and love for the game. He was also an ambassador for the sport and helped popularize football around the world. Even after his retirement, Pele remained a beloved figure in Brazil and around the world and is widely regarded as one of the greatest football players of all time.
