Football is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, using a round ball. The objective of the game is to score goals by kicking the ball into the opposing team's goal post.
Here are the basic rules and regulations of football:
- The game starts with a coin toss to decide which team will kick off the ball.
- The
ball is placed at the center of the field, and the team that wins the toss
kicks the ball towards the opponent's side of the field.
- The
game is played in two halves, each lasting 45 minutes with a 15-minute
break in between.
- Each
team has a goal post at either end of the field, and the team with the
most number of goals at the end of the game wins.
- A
goal is scored when the ball completely crosses the goal line between the
goal posts and under the crossbar.
- If
the ball goes out of bounds on either side of the field, the opposing team
gets a throw-in from the point where the ball crossed the touchline.
- A
player can only touch the ball with their feet, legs, torso, or head.
Using hands or arms to touch the ball results in a free kick or penalty.
- If a
player commits a foul, the opposing team gets a free kick or a penalty
kick depending on the severity of the foul.
- Offside
is called if a player is closer to the opponent's goal than the ball and
the second last defender when the ball is played to them.
- If the game ends in a tie, extra time is played, and if no goals are scored in extra time, the winner is decided by a penalty shootout.
These are some of the basic rules of football. However,
there are many other rules and regulations that may vary depending on the level
of play and the governing body of the game.
